HANDS AND LIGHT

"Hands and Light" was painted by Alejandra, a 39 year old leukemia survivor from Mexico. Alejandra lives in Mexico with her three daughters and makes her living selling shoes by catalog. She was diagnosed with CML in 2005. With the support of The Max Foundation, Alejandra was able to access treatment through a patient assistance program. In Alejandra's words, "The dark background represents my disease; the hands represent my daughters who are the pillars of my life; and the light represents the organization and the program that helped me regain my health."
