ALMA, the CML patient group in Argentina, today is known on the World Wide Web!
Indeed, not only have they created a blog where they post useful information, their news and activities, but they also have a Facebook page “liked” by more than 600 people where they can promote their group even more.
The possibilities that open to a patient group with a blog are immense. It is a chance to communicate with patients all around the globe who speak the same language and it allows THEM to reply back to YOU with feedback and other comments. ALMA has taken advantage of all this technology, and they have gone one step further, posting patient testimonials, both in video and in written format. Thus, members of ALMA speak through the internet to any patient or caregiver who finds them on a random Google search. Up to now, they have already had over 3,000 visits!
Aside from testimonials, they share information about CML in general, what the disease is about, what medical tests can be performed in order to reach its diagnosis and which are the treatments in existence that help fight it. On the other hand, they talk about their organization, what they do, how they help, what their activities consist of and how you can get in contact with them. All of this exists within an easily manageable blog that does not require its creator to know how to develop a website. After all, the design is prepared beforehand – you just need to accommodate it to your association’s needs.
If you know any Spanish, please do visit ALMA's blog and check them out! You can also access their Facebook page.
Maxi-Vida Chile, on the other hand, is just beginning to follow ALMA’s steps with the creation of Maxi-Vida's own Facebook page.
