Before joining Max in his interim role, Edgar served on our board for over a year and has spent considerable time at Max building strong relationships with team members. He has worked closely with our administration on numerous projects and has partnered closely with leadership as we look to transition from our current strategic plan to the next phase of accelerating health equity globally.

He brings to his new role more than 15 years of experience in finance and accounting, spanning public accounting, corporate finance, and high-growth startups. Edgar has a proven track record of building and leading global accounting teams, managing complex audits, driving process automation, and scaling financial operations. He previously served as co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Avise, Inc., and held financial leadership roles at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, CiBO Technologies, and Partners In Health.

In his role at Max, Edgar will serve as the primary leader supporting the CEO in developing strategies to ensure a robust organizational and financial structure that supports the health and growth of the organization. He will also lead all facets of our global Human Resources, Accounting, Information Technology, Administration, and Facilities.

Originally from Sierra Leone, Edgar has also lived in Playa Potrero, Costa Rica, and now resides in Buffalo, New York, with his partner and two children. They enjoy the beautiful summer weather on the East Coast. Prior to joining Max, Edgar was proud to return to Sierra Leone in 2015 during the Ebola epidemic as part of his work with Partners In Health – a life-changing experience for him.
