Maria Pia brings to the Max Foundation Board of Directors 40 years of multifaceted experience in the healthcare sector.
With a medical degree from the Catholic University in Rome and specializations in endocrinology, dermatology and venereology, Maria Pia worked as a physician early in her career, focusing on improving patient’s lives, and published 50 articles, many in indexed medical journals.
She then joined Pfizer in Italy, moving from Medical Director to General Manager, with a focus on Government Affairs, Policies, Pricing and Reimbursement, Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships.
She was the first woman to be elected as Board VP of the Italian Pharmaceutical Association. In 2005 she won the Marisa Belisario Prize, a highly recognized national prize for Women in Business.
In 2007 she came to Pfizer HQ in NYC to create the International Public Affairs Therapeutic Area Team, a team dedicated to support access to innovative drugs for patients around the world.
During her pharmaceutical career she has been speaker and discussant at several national and international meetings and congresses with more than 100 presentations on topics such as patient engagement, access to medicines and public policies.
